EFEKTIFITAS PIJAT OKSITOSIN TERHADAP KELANCARAN AIR SUSU IBU POST PARTUM

Abstract

The milk ejection reflex (Let Down Reflex) also called MER (Milk Ejection Reflex) or Oxytocin Reflex is a sign that breast milk is ready to flow and makes the breastfeeding process easier, both for the baby and the mother. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of oxytocin massage on the smoothness of breast milk in postpartum mothers in the Penanggalan Health Center Work Area, Subulussalam City. Oxytocin massage is a massage along both sides of the spine. This massage is done to stimulate the oxytocin reflex or milk ejection reflex. Mothers who receive oxytocin massage will feel more relaxed. This study is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test-post-test design, namely the measurement of two of the same variables at two different points that are compared. Paired observations of variables can be measured in the same person at two different points in time. The study was conducted in the Penanggalan Health Center Work Area, Subulussalam City in May 2022. This study used a total sampling technique, namely all postpartum mothers were sampled, totaling 98 people. The smoothness of breast milk before oxytocin massage was mostly respondents' smoothness of breast milk that was not smooth, amounting to 56 respondents (57.1%). After oxytocin massage, most respondents' breast milk production was smooth, amounting to 74 respondents (75.5%). The data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). Based on the results of this test, the p-value was obtained as 0.000, thus the p-value <α (0.000 <0.05), so Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. From this analysis, it can be concluded that there was an increase in the smoothness of breast milk in postpartum mothers in the Penanggalan Health Center Work Area, Subulussalam City. It is expected to add information about the effectiveness of oxytocin massage with the smoothness of breast milk in postpartum mothers in the Penanggalan Health Center Work Area, Subulussalam City.
