Abstract

Background: Labor is a physiological process for pregnant women, but some mothers experience fear and anxiety about pain during labor, fear and anxiety about labor pain will stimulate excessive release of catecholamine and steroid hormones, causing vasoconstriction which results in reduced blood flow and oxygen to the uterus so that uterine inertia can occur. Labor pain and anxiety can be overcome by using non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is aromatherapy. Purpose of the study: To determine the Effectiveness of Lemon Aromatherapy on the Intensity of Labor Pain in the First Active Phase at PMB Nur Asmalindar, Subulussalam City. Research method: The research method is an Experiment with a post-test-only control group design. The population in this study was all mothers in labor, with an accidental sampling technique, and a sample size of 36 people divided into 2 groups. Data analysis using the t-independent test. Research Results: Statistical test results showed that P = 0.003 (<0.005), indicating an effect of lemon aroma therapy on reducing pain in the first stage of active labor in PMB Nur Asmalindar, Subulussalam City. So this is suggested to be done as one of the non-pharmacological therapies for mothers in labor with pain in the first stage of active labor.
